There are a few good reasons for you to belong to a union and three and a half thousand very good reasons [all members] for you to belong to the Australian Education Union. We represent over 90% of educators in the public education system and a growing and School Counsellor Psychologists across the ACT ... and you are EDUCATORS not administrators. There are some excellent training oportunities targeting LSAs. In May there is additional training in the OH&S area that is open to all interested members and in particular to OH&S Representatives and Deputy Representatives. For the full training program click here.
This will be the fourth annual OH&S Forum and it will focus on a range of issues from identifying risks in the workplace to completing the risk assessment process. In fact, the training will be particularly relevant to all assistants as you are often most involved in the lifting/moving and restraining/calming tasks associated with the job of working with children presenting challenging behaviours.
