How do I join the AEU?
Simply print off the Application Form AND Payment Authority below, complete and check all details, sign the form and send BOTH to: Australian Education Union, PO Box 3042, Manuka, ACT 2603 OR Fax: 6273-1828.

* Payroll Deduction is only available to full-time teachers/teachers on a contract or permanent part-time teachers
You can join the AEU as a:
- Teacher
- Preservice Teacher [on the commencement of your internship practicum experience]
- SSO*
- Associate [Retiree/Student Teacher (in your first three years of study)]
* School Services Officer - includes Preschool Assistants, Learning Support Assistants, Youth Workers, Indigenous Education Officers/Indigenous Education Workers, Health Professionals and other education workers who support students.
Once your membership form is received by the AEU office it will be processed within 7 days and you will be posted a New Member pack.
Notes:
- A member on Leave Without Pay may suspend their membership for the period of their leave [contact Michelle or Sue to arrange this].
- A member on half pay leave can have their fees reduced [contact Michelle or Sue to arrange this].
- Members have an obligation to advise the AEU office of changes in their circumstances [workplace, workload, salary rate, leave etc] in order that their membership is always current. If an overpayment of fees occurs due to lack of notification of changes in workload, a member may apply to the Union office for a refund in line with Rule 34C.
- A member resigning from the Union must do so in writing [an email to priority1@aeuact.asn.au will suffice] giving 2 week's notice and outlining the reasons for their resignation.
The Members' Payment System is for the use of current members paying on quarterly statement or for the purchase of Public Education Works merchandise.
